📣 SoftNet Africa Launches Girls4ICT to Empower the Next Generation of Female Digital Leaders
Monrovia, Liberia – February 5, 2025
SoftNet Africa is proud to announce the official Re-launch of Girls4ICT, a groundbreaking initiative focused on equipping less-privileged girls and young women in Liberia and Africa with essential digital skills. The initiative aims to break barriers in access to technology and promote gender inclusion in the digital economy.
🎯 Why Girls4ICT?
In many parts of Liberia and Africa, girls face challenges accessing digital tools, internet connectivity, and opportunities for tech-based learning. Girls4ICT was born out of a vision to close this gap—not just by offering free training, but by creating a safe, empowering environment where girls can build confidence, explore new possibilities, and unlock their full potential.
“When we empower girls with digital skills, we’re not just teaching them to use technology — we’re giving them the tools to lead, innovate, and transform their communities,”
— Ousman Lamin Kallay, Founder, SoftNet Africa Girls4ICT Initiative
💻 First Program Kicks Off June 2
The first cohort of the Girls4ICT Digital Literacy Training will begin on June 2 and run through July 2, 2025, in Montserrado County. Already, 167 young women and girls have enrolled, showing the overwhelming demand for digital inclusion programs in under-served communities.
🖥️ Fully Equipped Digital Learning Lab
One of the program’s standout features is SoftNet Africa’s fully equipped training lab, offering:
- One computer per participant
- Reliable internet access
- A hands-on learning experience in a tech-friendly space
👭 Beyond Training: Mentorship and Opportunities
Girls4ICT isn’t just a one-time training — it’s a movement. The initiative will also introduce mentorship programs, storytelling campaigns, and outreach activities to rural Communities in the future. The goal is to ensure that no girl is left behind in the digital future of Liberia.
“Girls4ICT is more than a training program; it’s a movement to ensure that no girl is left behind in the digital future.”
— Ousman Lamin Kallay, Founder, SoftNet Africa -Girls4ICT Initiative
